B Loved: ROC Complete Lift Eye Cream

As we get a little older, those nights start to feel longer, and it shows up on our face the next morning. My problem in particular? Bags. Well, bags-b-gone because Roc Complete Lift Eye Cream is the truth. It's cheaper than most fancy eye creams ($20 v. $45), and it works 5 times as hard. Love!

B Tubed: Diddy Blog #24

It's hard to tell who is the bigger fool in this video. At least Diddy is joking. Gotta love him. This is pretty scary, and just in time for Halloween...

B in an (un)-costume!

I'm am 100% about dressing up for Halloween, however, I can't really get with paying more than $20 for something you're going to throw out on November 1st. Let's face it, no one has the space or patience to store a fairy costume 365 days of the year.
In an effort to take a "greener" approach to dress up, here are a few ideas for "un-costumes". These ideas are easy to execute, fun & recognizable, and you have a fighting chance of actually recycling the "costume" the the big day. All you need are few key embellishments.

UN-COSTUME IDEA: BEYONCE IN "SINGLE LADIES"
Recipe = One shoulder leotard, left-hand hardware, fly ankle strap shoes, lashes GALORE.

UN-COSTUME IDEA: FLAPPER
Recipe = Pearls, tiered dress, red lip, 20's updo (think finger waves).

UN-COSTUME IDEA: RACHEL ZOE
Recipe = oversized fur, oversized bug-eyed sunglasses, anything underneath. Starbucks "venti" cup, cascading waves.

UN-COSTUME IDEA: EDIE SEDGEWICK
Recipe = blond crop/bob, mod dress, huge chandelier earrings, fake ciggie (for effect. drugs "for effect" are in-excusable)

UN-COSTUME IDEA: GEISHA
Recipe = platform heel, kimono (I wear one every weekend - you'll love it), huge hair bun

UN-COSTUME IDEA: JENNIFER BEALS IN "FLASHDANCE"
Recipe = just hit American Apparel

UN-COSTUME IDEA: BLAIR WALDORF IN "GOSSIP GIRLS"
Recipe = anything navy and/or preppy, colored tights, head band

(This is a FUN one for the whole click. Just go crazy!)

B Loved: Bumble & Bumble - Straight

Calling all curly-girls...As Summer turns to Fall, and Fall turns to Winter, we finally have a fighting chance to straighten our hair without it swelling up. Ah, the beauty of "options". Well here it is - Bumble & Bumble Straight, the product that will get you straight (pun intended), and quickly I might add. I'm not quick to endorse straightening products, but this one is the truth.

B at MR CHOW!

MR CHOW
121 Hudson St.
NYC
Ever get placed in the position of finding the "it" restaurant of the moment when your line sister, brother or summer camp BFF come to town? We all do, but finding a "cool" restaurant that isn't impossible to get into or already deemed so-yesterday, is more difficult than it sounds. The key is to find a few favorites to add to your go-to arsenal when you want to do something a little extra special. I just found a new one.
Maybe I'm late, but I'm a new fan of MR CHOW Tribeca. Upon entering the stark white (but strangely warm & comfy) space, I realized I had been to the London location years ago as a pre-teen, but never to the E. 57th street location where the restaurant gained most of it's NY-acclaim. The newer Tribeca location has a definite downtown vibe. Very cool. Plus, the outdoor patio option is to die...even in a crisp breeze
Let's get to the important part - the food. Brilliant. We barely used our menus, didn't order anything by name, but simply said what we didn't want (and my cuz promptly offered "no pork") although I'm a bit more liberal with my palette. Our Chino-Croatian server (in the game almost 30 years) had his charge bring out the best of the chef's selections without any help from us. I guess he didn't want us to mess up a good thing, because his choices were ON POINT. Perfectly sauteed shrimp, sweet and spicy Beijing chicken, and hand rolled noodles...yeah. I also experienced the most heavenly coconut sorbet known to man. No exaggeration. The only con - it was pricey, The positive - I would pay it again.

B-Pick: Bacardi Flavor Exchange

If you do one thing this week, take it uptown to the Bacardi Flavor Exchange on Thursday October 9th from 9-1PM at Harlem's newish spot - BODY RESTAURANT & LOUNGE. Not only do you get your kicks for free, but a few flavorful surprises (think good food, better drinks, hot music, and an inspiring crowd) will culminate to make this the must-do event of the week. Hope to see you there!

TINA FEY AS SARAH PALIN - VP DEBATE ON SNL!!!

This Saturday Night Live parody with Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin is absolutely brilliant! It's a must see! If you for some reason you missed the actual debate, sadly, this will catch you right up! That Palin is quite the maverick!

B-Loved: Miracle at St.Anna

I have to admit, that I went see this film as a result of a coin toss...that I lost. I mean, who really signs up to see a 3 hour "war" movie on a Sunday evening, just hours before you have to start your work week? Well, I'm glad I did!
Miracle at St.Anna, the latest project from acclaimed director, Spike Lee, is not your typical war story. It's a character-driven tale that's part history, fantasy, suspense, comedy, and action epic. We follow the journey of 4 Buffalo Soldiers (well acted by Derek Luke, Michael Ealy, Omar Benson Miller, and Laz Alonso - who totally steps out as a lead in this film) who travel through Tuscany while fighting in WWII as they reevaluate their mission. Enter - a new character, that changes everything, and reveals more clues about the story, and gives at least a few of our soldiers something more to fight for.
There's no doubt that this movie belongs on my B-loved list. Possible Oscar-talk for Spike Lee? Fingers crossed!
